So, unix web hosting eh? Why unix you ask? I think the answer is clear. Unix is a very stable operating system. Has been since the 70s. You can expect the hardware to fail before the software does. Unix is made for multi-user environments. What about Linux you ask? Well, linux is based on mimix, which is different than unix, which is system V based. On the surface, they both the same. The same command line shell, same input, for the most part, the same command(s) style. But under the hood, they are quite different. Linux has a bigger popular open source support, which make it a little bit easier to find updates and support. But if you were to choose linux or unix for web hosting, there are other factors to consider before the OS is considered. Stay tuned for other articles regarding how to choose the best web hosting.
